The National College “Preaching in Action” Conference is just around the corner. It begins on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018 and ends with a commissioning liturgy on Sunday, May 27. This year the conference is being held at Caldwell University in Caldwell, NJ. We are expecting 85 participants.

Do you remember what you were doing on May 21, 2008? Many of us recall that day with fondness and delight! Mary Ellen O’Grady, OP, the Executive Director of the Dominican Leadership Conference, and Donna Carroll, President of Dominican University blest the Mary Nona McGreal, OP Center for Dominican Historical Studies. Since the blessing of the McGreal Center in 2008, approximately 1550 visitors signed the Center’s guest book. Our guests came from 4 continents, 22 countries, the U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico and 27 states! Sometimes we failed to remind people to sign the book!!

The London Independent Film Awards awarded Best Documentary for April 2018 to a feature documentary, South Texas Gentle Men of Steel—Los Padres, written, produced and directed by Southern Dominican friar, Armando P. Ibáñez, O.P.
“London Independent Film Awards is a monthly competition with annual screenings, recognizing and awarding the work of independent filmmakers worldwide,” states a description posted on Filmfreeway.com. “A selection of best films will be shortlisted to compete in our Grand jury competition and screened at our annual festival held on Sat 30th March 2019 at The Roxy Bar & Screen, London.”

May 7, 2018, Washington, DC – Sister Patricia Erickson, OP, a Justice Promoter for the Florida Mission Chapter of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, was one of about 700 people to attend a four-day conference in Washington, D.C., in preparation for effective lobbying for just policies for people who have been displaced.
Sister Patricia was attending the 2018 Ecumenical Advocacy Days for Global Justice with Peace, an annual national conference that prepares Christians and others of good will to bring the attention of their legislators to a particular social justice issue. The focus for 2018 was “A World Uprooted: Responding to Migrants, Refugees, and Displaced People.”
