Dominican Sisters of Peace Founded Ministries Director Mark Butler Honored

Mark Butler, Director of Founded Ministries for the Dominican Sisters of Peace, was honored with the “Champion of Children Award” by the Ohio Family and Children First Coordinators Association.

Columbus, OH – Dominican Sisters of Peace Director of Founded Ministries Mark Butler was honored by The Ohio Family and Children First Coordinators Association (OFCFCA) at a banquet on October 21. Mark was awarded the “Champion of Children Award” by the OFCFCA for his work to encourage the state of Ohio to establish the Multi-System Youth Fund within the State budget.

The Ohio Departments of Medicaid (ODM) and Job and Family Services (ODJFS) will issue $31 million in new funding in state fiscal year (SFY) 2020 to directly support children, youth and families served by multiple systems.

First Sunday of Advent: Dominican Month for Peace in India has begun!

The Annual Dominican Month for Peace in 2019 is focused on India. In 2017, we showed our solidarity with Dominicans promoting the national peace accord in Colombia; and in 2018, we supported our brothers and sisters struggling for democracy and peace through credible elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now we turn to another region, India and the plight of indigenous peoples, women’s rights, and enslaved children.

Dominican Sisters of Peace Receive Grant for Discernment, Vocation Programs

Columbus, OH – The Dominican Sisters of Peace, a locally-based Congregation of vowed religious Sisters that celebrated its Tenth Anniversary in 2019, is grateful and blessed to announce that they have received a $1,400 grant from the Catholic Foundation to support vocation and discernment programs at their recently-opened House of Welcome on the east side of the city.

The House of Welcome, sometimes called a House of Discernment, is a community specifically intended to welcome women who are considering entering the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Women in discernment might visit for a few days to experience community life, and Candidates who have entered the Congregation may live there while in the first step of her formation.
