Dominican Sister of Grand Rapids Mary Navarre, OP Named to ACWR Board

Dee Gallo, president of Archivists for Congregations of Women Religious (ACWR), announced election results on Tuesday, March 27 for the organization of approximately 350 members. Elected to Vice President / President-elect is Lisa Gibbon, Director of Congregational Archives for the Congregation of St. Joseph in Cleveland, Ohio. Elected to the position of Secretary is Mary Navarre, OP, Director of the Archives for the Dominican Sisters in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Dominican Sisters of Houston: March for our Lives and Pax Christi Texas Conference

Saturday, March 24, students from Parkland, Florida and throughout the country gathered in Washington DC and other cities across the U.S. calling on Congress to enact stricter guns laws. Dominican Sisters of Houston and Houston Dominican Family members joined thousands of students and adults marching in downtown Houston.

The sisters also hosted the annual Pax Christi Texas Conference on March 24. Prior to the Conference Dominican Sisters, members of Pax Christi and friends gathered for 17 minutes of silence at the entrance to the Dominican Motherhouse to be in solidarity with the students and their supporters.

Please join the St. Catherine of Siena Center at Dominican University for the annual St. Catherine of Siena Lecture – this year with John Allen, Jr. speaking on “Creating a Culture of Mercy – Pope Francis as a Merciful Leader.“ This lecture will explore how Pope Francis’ unique leadership style and tone have inspired both Catholics and non-Catholics to consider the virtue of mercy in new ways. John Allen, Jr. is a journalist and current editor of the Catholic-oriented news website, Crux, and senior Vatican analyst for CNN. McGreal 10th Anniversary Series: “Team McGreal” Part 1

Every year approximately 1,200 Dominican University members participate in an all-day symposium dedicated to study, and the celebration of the University’s motto, Caritas et Veritas (love and truth). The McGreal Center is a department of Dominican University where we participate every year in the Caritas/Veritas Symposiums. At the 2014 symposium, the Center shared with the University Community how “Team McGreal” lives the Caritas of our Motto:

Caritas in community requires respect for every person. When people come to work in the McGreal Center, we agree to respect one another. “Team McGreal” is a diverse team. We are an intergenerational group: our ages range from 19 to 80 years old. We represent various ethnic and racial groups, learning styles and religious traditions. Each one of us has a distinct personality! And we all work hard to practice the common belief that respect is the foundation for Caritas in community.
