Dominican Sister of Amityville Marenid Fabre, O.P. Visits Puerto Rico

In this dining room, the windows (pictured above) had been destroyed along with tables, chairs and the kitchen cabinets and their contents from the Hurricane. Praise God, the windows and the other items have been replaced! The Sisters are so grateful for all the donations that were sent to them!

After the devastation of the Hurricane in Puerto Rico, Sister Marenid Fabre traveled there to see how our Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville and the people of Puerto Rico were faring. She found that even now only fifty percent of Puerto Rico has restored electrical power. Towns in the center of the island and those in the path of the Hurricane were hit the hardest. There is a lot of devastation in the mountains. S. Marenid traveled with novice Sister Myriam Irizarry and saw that many people continue to be in need.

Dominican Sisters of Adrian: ‘Catholic Charities Cuts Ribbon for New Child Advocacy Center Facility in Adrian’

February 1, 2018, Adrian, Michigan – Children from Adrian who suffer abuse will no longer have to bear the added trauma of repeating their story countless times to law enforcement officials and counselors, thanks to the new Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of Catholic Charities of Jackson, Lenawee, and Hillsdale County.

Rejoice and celebrate! 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of the Mary Nona McGreal, OP Center for Dominican Historical Studies! It seems like yesterday when on May 23, 2008, Mary Ellen O’Grady, OP, the executive director of the Dominican Leadership Conference and Donna Carroll, president of Dominican University, blessed the McGreal Center at Dominican University. In the coming months we will describe the WHY, WHAT and WHO of the McGreal Center.
