The Adrian Dominicans’ Motherhouse Chef Maureen (Moe) Brooker was awarded first place at the Culinary Creation Contest in Washington, D.C. The Motherhouse Chef won for her spicy chicken breast with pumpkin seeds and vegetable medley.
St. Catherine’s Academy, founded in 1889 by the Dominican Sisters of MSJ in Anaheim, CA, is a boys’ K-8 day and boarding school with a military tradition. Recently the Anaheim Beautiful Award was presented as an honor to the campus. The Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the US bestowed the “Legacy of Impact” award in recognition of exceptional leadership of the faculty and staff in their mission.

The summer retreats at Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center began June 6th and retreats will continue on throughout the summer. Don Bisson, Paula D’Arcy, Francis Gargani, Edwina Gateley, and Michael Laratonda are among the summer presenters. The Dominican Young Adults USA delegation is preparing to participate in the gathering of the International Dominican Youth Movement. Five young adults and three sisters will rendezvous July 16th in Toulouse, France!
The theme for the international meeting is 800 Years of Reasons to Celebrate. It is a very special moment for the Dominican Youth Movement which was inspired by the footsteps of our father, Saint Dominic. We will celebrate our history that looks to the future of our evangelizing mission.

Niles, Illinois – Sister Sally Ormsby, OP, was recognized for her service and the contributions she has made to Notre Dame College Prep, an all-boys high school founded by the Holy Cross Brothers, where she has served as a religion teacher for nine years.
Sister Sally received the Rev. James d’Autremont, CSC, Award during the school’s graduation ceremonies. Named after the first principal of Notre Dame, the award is given annually to a faculty or staff member who “best exemplifies Father D’Autremont’s qualities of wisdom, strength, gentleness, and selfless service, a model for the Dons [students] of Notre Dame.”
