A web crossroads for the Order of Preachers

Participating in this summer’s National Dominican High School Preaching Conference was a glorifying faith experience for everyone who attended. Located at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, the conference introduced the way of Dominican preaching to Catholic youth through seminars, group discussion, presentations, and hands-on work in the community.

Our creation of a more just and humane world relies on an affirmation of the dignity of all people. Join the father of liberation theology, Gustavo Gutiérrez, OP, as he shares his own experience of finding God in and with the world’s most marginalized peoples. He will offer a crucial reminder that God’s mercy should be at the center of our accompaniment of others. The author of A Theology of Liberation, Fr. Gutiérrez is often referred to as the founder of liberation theology.

On August 7, 2016, Sister Kelly Moline, O.P. professed her first vows during the Eucharistic liturgy at Sacred Heart Convent. Soon Sister Kelly will join her new community at St. Martin DePorres Convent on the south side of Chicago and will begin to study for a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies at Catholic Theological Union. September 9, 2016, Rome – Sister Donna Markham, OP, President and CEO of Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), attended the September 4, 2016, canonization of Mother Teresa, as an official representative of the President, Barack Obama.
“I’m very humbled to be asked by the President to represent him and the U.S. on this occasion,” Sister Donna said. “Mother Teresa did so much to call attention to the plight of the poorest of the poor, and now it is our responsibility to continue that ministry as we work to change the systems that have resulted in this suffering of the most vulnerable.”

August 24, 2016, Adrian, Michigan – Mary Veen, a former Adrian Dominican Sister, formally reconnected with the Congregation as an Associate on August 13 during a special Ritual of Acceptance. The brief ceremony was held during Partners IV, an annual gathering of Adrian Dominican Associates at the Motherhouse in Adrian.
