SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sinsinawa Mound will host a retreat for people who have carried with them hurts, betrayals and traumas and are open to moving toward the healing process. Compassionate Acceptance: A Mindful Path to Healing Life’s Wounds will be held Feb. 5–7. Too often, we develop a type of aversion to our hurts—a kind of wishing they would go away. Deep healing occurs when we begin to accept and relate wisely with deep compassion to that part of ourselves that needs healing. This retreat, led by Tom Roberts, will provide a spacious and safe place to work on bringing mindful and compassionate acceptance to these difficulties. Through the exploration of contemplative, Taoist and Buddhist teachings and healing practices, you will be able to reach a kind of healing based on acceptance and compassion that is often overlooked. SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sinsinawa Dominican Sister Toni Harris, OP, will present “Dominic’s Dream Continues: 800 Years and Counting” 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Sinsinawa Mound. Dominicans are observing a Jubilee, Nov. 7, 2015, through Feb. 21, 2017, to celebrate the 800^th anniversary of the Order of Preachers established by St. Dominic in the 13^th century. Begun in France eight centuries ago, today more than 230,000 members of the Dominican Family live and serve in 110 countries. This presentation will include these areas:  Who Was St. Dominic?; elements of Dominican identity; the call to jubilee; some prominent Dominican Family members; globalization of the order in Dominic’s day; globalization of the Dominican Family today; and Dominicans as a global movement.
