Siena Retreat Center is honored to welcome Linda Gibler, OP, a Dominican sister of Houston and the Associate Academic Dean of the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, for a day of reflection on Saturday, November 12. This day will probe Pope Francis’ concept of “integral ecology” and what relationality and responsibility ask of the human family today.

October 24, 2016, Miami, Florida – Sister Jeanne O’Laughlin, OP, received the Community Service Award for her work with refugees during her years of service as President of Barry University, 1981 to 2004.
The award was presented to Sister Jeanne during the Peace and Dialogue Dinner sponsored by the South Florida Branch of the Atlantic Institute on October 15 in the Kovens Conference Center at Florida International University.

October 14, 2016, Sección San José, Dominican Republic – More than 80 people – many of them children – received free dental services Oct. 9 during a clinic sponsored by the Associate Group Antorcha and organized by Dr. Fabiola Reyes, Associate.

On Sunday, October 30, Sister Heloise Cruzat welcomed sisters, family and friends to the Evening Prayer and Labyrinth of Remembrance and Thanksgiving sponsored by the Labyrinth Committee. The committee began offering this observance in the fall of 2005 with prayer and the opportunity of a labyrinth walk in the time prior to the liturgical feasts of All Saints and All Souls. This year’s observance was one of our local Order of Preachers 800 year Anniversary celebrations. Since the Order and the Dominican Sisters of Houston have a strong legacy in music and art, our customary prayer was expanded to include both music and art components.
