The tradition of vespers for the month of November was celebrated last month at the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Amityville and led by the Molloy Chapter of Dominican Young Adults (DYA). Part of the service allowed the young adults who are to become new members of DYA, Molloy Chapter, as well as those renewing their membership to DYA, to profess their commitment to the organization. On Saturday, December 9, 2017, members of the Caldwell Chapter of Dominican Young Adults USA, students, faculty and parents from Mount Saint Dominic Academy and Lacordaire Academy, and the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Caldwell gathered together for a ‘Stamp Out Despair’ packing party at Saint Catherine’s Healthcare Center and Convent located on the Motherhouse grounds in Caldwell, New Jersey.

The November Youth Preaching weekend included eleven students from St. Agnes Academic HS, College Point; and Albertus Magnus HS in Rockland County. The students gathered at “St. John the Baptist HS retreat Center to begin a weekend of prayer, study, and the forming of community. These students were the latest group who attended one of our youth preaching workshops.” Read article
“The 10th Annual Nuns’ Build took place in New Orleans last week, November 13-16. Sisters from across the United States along with their friends and families come to New Orleans for a week to help address the housing crisis left in Katrina’s wake . . . by transforming abandoned and blighted lots into affordable homes for 1st time home buyers.” Read article
(Amityville, NY) – Religious Sisters and college students laughed and chatted at Queen of the Rosary, the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, NY on November 6, 2017, during National Vocations Awareness Week. Students sat at small tables to interview Sisters as part of their Spiritual Autobiography class at Molloy College in Rockville Centre which has been a tradition for the past twelve years.
