Hope Dominicans

The Dominican Sisters of Hope Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center is a life-sustaining oasis in the community of Ossining, New York, in more ways than one. The simple act of planting seeds in the garden, which includes 17 raised beds, continues to develop relationships among sisters, families, and community members. Sinsinawa Dominicans

Sister Joeann Daley, OP (Sinsinawa), will be featured in “The Evolution of the Artistic Imagination” at Sinsinawa Art Gallery April 11–June 3. Sister Joeann is known for creating intricate art with many layers that blend color, texture, form, and function. Works on display will include sculpture, drawing, lithography, etching and collages on display from as far back as 1968, as well as Sister Joeann’s latest creations: small Styrofoam containers she calls “Styroart.” Sister Joeann applied her years of printmaking knowledge to this new endeavor. Dominican Association of Secondary Schools

The Dominican Association of Secondary Schools was formally founded in 2002. Its mission is to nurture and sustain the legacy of Dominican Catholic secondary education in the United States. Through the years DASS has nurtured leaders in the tradition of preaching, prayer, study and community and has fostered collaboration with others in carrying out the preaching mission. In the early days, most administrators were vowed Dominican religious men and women. Today, there is a greater need for DASS to offer resources about the Dominican charism and for mission integration as our lay colleagues step forward to embrace leadership in Dominican schools. Equally important is a growing need to support efforts of religious congregations in seeking new and effective sponsorship models and in maintaining strong relationships with their schools. Dominican Retreat and Conference Center

The Dominican Retreat and Conference Center in Niskayuna, New York, offers a weekend retreat for men and women Feb. 27–March 1 with artist, author and storyteller Brother Mickey O’Neill McGrath, OSFS. Br. Mickey will share his paintings and the stories behind them, shining new light on the women saints who walked the streets and forests of New York: Kateri Tekakwitha, Elizabeth Seton, Frances Cabrini and Dorothy Day.
