The North American Dominican Justice Promoters gathered at Techny Towers near Chicago March 2-4. This bi-annual gathering is an opportunity for promoter input and discussion on the signs of the times and the subsequent updating of the US Dominican Call to Justice as well as serving as a support to the promoters in their justice work. On March 4 the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell greeted walkers who are participating in an 80 mile walk to “publicize opposition to the Pilgrim Pipelines and the Spectra-Aim Pipeline and to pray for water in solidarity with the Ramapough Lenape Nation and Standing Rock and to commemorate the March 11th anniversary of the Fukushima Nuclear disaster.” The walkers are being led by Buddhist monk Jun-san Yasuda, a nun of the Peace Pagoda and New Jersey Peace Action. On Valentine’s Day, the Adrian Dominican Sisters, Associates, co-workers, and friends celebrated the 100th birthday of Sister Charles Christine Uhnavy, O.P. Sister Charles Christine has been an Adrian Dominican Sister for nearly 80 years. Read more
On Saturday, January 21, 2017, approximately fifty Sisters, Associates and friends of the Sparkill community, including Dominican Sisters from neighboring congregations in Amityville, NY and Caldwell, NJ, participated in the Women’s March in New York City. Read more
On January 14, 2017 over 200 Dominican women and men gathered to celebrate the closing of the 800th Anniversary of the Order. The celebration was sponsored by the OP West leadership and hosted at the motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. Read more
