Saint Thomas Aquinas Lay Dominican Chapter to Host Art and Chant Feast Day Celebration for Saint Catherine of Siena

Please join the Saint Thomas Aquinas Lay Dominican Chapter for an evening of art and prayer in celebration of the Feast Day of Saint Catherine of Siena. We will begin with a brief explanation; then settle into prayer. The chant will be in Latin and participants will be provided with programs that outline the Chant in both Latin and English. While members of our Lay Dominican Community chant, there will be projected images of paintings by Dominican, Fra Giovanni Frangelico. Each image will be accompanied by one chanted prayer and there will be about 15 pairs in total. The goal is for those attending to connect with the visual beauty and prayer that combine to deepen our faith. You may be surprised by the depth of prayer you enter, while being surrounded by this beauty.

Jubilee800 SINSINAWA, Wis.—Join the Sinsinawa Dominicans at a closing event for the 800^th Jubilee of the Dominican Order at 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, at Sinsinawa Mound. The Order of Preachers (OP) was established by St. Dominic in 1216, and Dominicans around the world have celebrated this jubilee throughout the last year. This prayer service will feature preaching by Sister Ann Willits, OP; special music; and a ritual beginning of our 170^th year as the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation. Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa: ‘Sinsinawa Art Gallery Hosts International Photographer Linda Panetta’

SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sinsinawa Art Gallery will host “A Look Back at Our Future” February 3-March 30. The exhibit of international photography of Linda Panetta, photojournalist and human rights activist, focuses on women and children and their strength and survival in times of war and violence. Panetta writes on her website (opticalrealities.org), “My photos are not my own; they are a representation of the oneness of us all. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to be an active participant in the lives of those who cry out for justice and struggle for peace and the restoration of hope; and I am grateful to be able to share this work with others.” An artist’s talk and gallery opening will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3.
