December 20, 2017, Henderson, Nevada – Shauna Walsh, long-time student, friend, and co-worker of Adrian Dominican Sisters, formalized her relationship with the Congregation on December 16 when she became the newest Adrian Dominican Associate. The Ritual of Acceptance was in the chapel in the St. Rose de Lima Campus of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, an institution sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters.

On December 4th, the First Sunday of Advent, more than 60 Sisters and Associates from Amityville, Blauvelt, Caldwell, Hope, Maryknoll and Sparkill gathered at Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center in Ossining, New York, to publicly acknowledge and bless Benincasa Community as a new and vibrant expression of Dominican life and mission. As such, it is a welcome addition to Dominican life in the Northeast, and may well serve as a model for different expressions of Dominican life throughout the US.

On Saturday, December 9, 2017, members of the Caldwell Chapter of Dominican Young Adults USA, students, faculty and parents from Mount Saint Dominic Academy and Lacordaire Academy, and the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Caldwell gathered together for a ‘Stamp Out Despair’ packing party at Saint Catherine’s Healthcare Center and Convent located on the Motherhouse grounds in Caldwell, New Jersey.

Sister Gloria Marie Jones, OP and Rachel K. Cheng, Ph.D. have launched a conversation about the call to greater love. These posts start an open dialogue around Dominican spirituality and how to “Journey Into Greater Love.” They aim to capture both Sister Gloria and Rachel’s reflections on modern challenges to finding meaning in love from both the sacred and secular experience. Initially, the dialogue reflects upon the season of Advent in our modern world, what gifts and love we may find in ourselves and in each other.
