Dominican Sisters of Peace: ‘Dominican Learning Center Celebrates 25 Years’

Columbus, OH – The Dominican Learning Center, a ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Peace located in Columbus, OH, celebrated its 25th anniversary with several events in May.

The Center received a celebratory resolution from the Columbus City Council Resolution on Monday, May 20. Council Member Emmanuel Remy presented the resolution during a City Council meeting at Columbus City Hall. Dominican Learning Center learners Freweyni Gebru and Elsa Santamaria testified to the Council about their successful experiences at the Center before Director Lisset Mendoza was presented with the resolution.

Collaborative Dominican Novitiate: ‘Dominican Family Relationship Days’

Novices from the Collaborative Dominican Novitiate and the Dominican Central and Southern Provinces met together, May 19-22, in St. Louis to experience Dominican Family relationships. Led by Sisters Ann Willits, Christin Tomy (both Sinsinawa) and Friars Don Goergen, Samuel Hakeem (both Central Province), the novices, a novice-to-be, one of our Dominican Sisters from Zimbabwe, and directors enjoyed stories, input, prayer, and sharing. Laughter filled the room as we introduced ourselves with two truths and a lie.

On May 24th 50 members of Dominican Women Afire are gathering at Dominican College, Blauvelt, NY for a 3-day conference. The gathering will be filled with moments of prayer and ritual, conversation and exploration, renewal of friendships and making new connections.
