Nine-Day Novena in Solidarity with our Dominican Family in Iraq

The Iraq Coordinating Committee has prepared a novena to remember our Dominican Family that fled for their lives when Daesch (ISIS) swept across the Nineveh Plain with violence. The novena begins on July 29 and ends on August 6, commemorating the day when our sisters and brothers left for Erbil in the Kurdish area. Brian Pierce, OP, has had the novena translated, and is distributing it to all of the Dominican Nuns’ Convents and the laity around the world. Dominican Sisters International (DSI) is also receiving this timely novena. Read Novena

July 8, 2016, Adrian, Michigan – The new Prioress and General Council of the Adrian Dominican Sisters formally took office on July 2, 2016 during a special Liturgy, the Celebration of Leadership. The Congregation’s new leadership team is composed of Sister Patricia Siemen, OP, Prioress of the Congregation; Sister Frances Nadolny, OP, Administrator and General Councilor; Sister Mary Margaret Pachucki, OP, Vicaress and General Councilor; and Sister Patricia Harvat, OP, and Sister Elise D. García, OP, General Councilors. Elected during the Congregation’s General Chapter in February 2016, they will hold office through June 2022.

Sinsinawa Dominicans – ‘Sister Joeann Daley Showcases New Art Form in Upcoming Show’

SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sister Joeann Daley, OP, will be featured in “The Evolution of the Artistic Imagination” at Sinsinawa Art Gallery, Sinsinawa, Aug. 4–Sept. 28. An opening reception will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, beginning with an artist talk.

Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville – ‘Summer Camp in Puerto Rico’

unnamed (3) We had a very beautiful end of camp yesterday, June 29, as the children of the camp performed by singing and dancing. The theme of the camp was Zoology and the campers wore elephant ears, lion’s
hair, zebra ornaments and more to make the performance colorful and happy and the camp a joyful experience. Their teacher is a young woman who is quite the choreographer and to her credit, the children respect and follow her instructions beautifully.

Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville – ‘UJIMA Interns Visit Homecoming Farm’

The interns from the Town of Babylon’s UJIMA program visited Homecoming Farm on June 28 and were inspired by all they heard. Along with learning about the farm and all the many ways it connects people to Earth, they also heard from Christine Keihm from Nubian Heritage, a Homecoming Farm supporter. Nubian has a strong Community image001 (2) Commerce Program and the interns learned about the concept of the triple bottom line which includes profit, people and the planet.
