St. Mary’s Dominican High School Veritas Volunteers were volunteer servers at the annual Chefs’ Charity for Children to benefit St. Michael’s Special School. Celebrity chefs conducted cooking demonstrations and benefit attendees enjoyed their culinary creations. Veritas Volunteers lead moderator is Dione Prince and Dawn Frick is moderator.

Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa – ‘Climate Change at the End of Your Fork’ Retreat

(1)LogoPinterestAvatar SINSINAWA, Wis.—In honor of Earth Day, Sinsinawa Mound is offering a daylong retreat to explore the intersections of our faith, the food we eat, and the reality of climate change. Climate Change at the End of Your Fork will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 23. Rooted in prayer and song, we’ll find the strength and courage in our stories of connection to take practical steps to help solve climate change at the end of our forks. A locally sourced meal will be included. The registration deadline is April 18, and the fee is $25. Dominican Sisters of Peace – “‘If Nuns Ruled the World,’ Love Would Prevail”

On March 14, 2016, the Dominican Sisters of Peace were joined with students and alumni from Ohio Dominican University’s Panthers for Peace to start their four-part book club of Jo Piazza’s book, If Nuns Ruled the World. Author Jo Piazza attended the first meeting and shared her inspiration from the book that “[i]f nuns ruled the world, truth, justice, and love would prevail.” Read article and view photos

Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose Dedicate LEED Gold Building

Donors, friends and community members were invited to bless the new Dominican Center and St. Joseph Residence on March 19, 2016, celebrating the completion of a major capital project. Guests entered the three-wing structure, visited Center community arts and exercise rooms and interacted with sister residents, who opened the doors to their rooms, chapel and living areas. The event honored and thanked guests who supported the $22.2 million project.

Saint John’s Bible Exhibited at Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center

Sister Louise Levesque, O.P. of the Dominican Sisters of Hope examines a volume of the St. John’s Bible on loan at Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center for Holy Week.

On Easter weekend, the Heritage reproduction edition of the original St. John’s Bible was on loan and displayed for guests at Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center; and on Monday, March 28^th, the bible was open to the public to view. The bible was loaned from the Kaplan Family Library and Learning Center. Read more and view photos
