Dominican volunteers: Perspectives on ministry
Two recent articles in the National Catholic Reporter’s Global Sisters Report were written by Dominican volunteers. “Catholic sisters at the UN: Bringing the moral voice to the debate” by Kelly Litt highlights the work of Catholic sisters at the United Nations, including Sister Margaret Mayce, OP (Amityville), UN NGO representative for the Dominican Leadership Conference. In “Prayer, common life and San Francisco’s homeless,” Mary Clare Mazzocchi writes about her experience as a volunteer at Immaculate Conception Academy, and her relationship with Mission San Jose Dominican Sister Martha Garcia, who works with the homeless in San Francisco.
