
UN Briefing ‘Feminist economics’ incorporates values, equality
Many participants from all over the globe gathered in New York for the 59th UN Commission on the Status of Women. Numerous events have been hosted by member states and NGOs to discuss issues relating to women and girls such as migration, violence, education, human trafficking, and gender equality. On Friday, March 13, I had the opportunity to attend a session hosted by the International Alliance of Women entitled “Why the Future of Economics and Economic Development Must Be Feminist.” This session was extremely exciting as it brought to my attention a concept I had never heard of before: “feminist economics.” Read article by Dominican Volunteer Kelly Litt

Sister Joeann Daley, OP (Sinsinawa), will be featured in “The Evolution of the Artistic Imagination” at Sinsinawa Art Gallery April 11–June 3. Sister Joeann is known for creating intricate art with many layers that blend color, texture, form, and function. Works on display will include sculpture, drawing, lithography, etching and collages on display from as far back as 1968, as well as Sister Joeann’s latest creations: small Styrofoam containers she calls “Styroart.” Sister Joeann applied her years of printmaking knowledge to this new endeavor. This series comprises more than 200 individual vessels, each taking about 12 hours to complete. 

“Sister gives us a reason to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day every day.” This is one of the top 10 reasons students at All Saints Academy, Parsippany, New Jersey, say they love Sister Bernadette Connor. Sister Bernadette, a longtime educator, is a preschool aide at All Saints. In February, The whole school surprised her with a birthday party including bagpipe players and shamrock cookies in honor of her Irish heritage.
