Siena Retreat Center Hosting the International Forgiveness Project

Siena Retreat Center, Racine, WI, is honored to host the International Forgiveness Project this summer, July 31- August 13. The purpose of hosting the exhibit and related programming is to offer to the broader community an opportunity to reflect on stories of forgiveness and the role forgiveness plays in a global, diverse, and complex society. The exhibit consists of twenty panels of thought-provoking images and personal narratives exploring forgiveness in the face of atrocity. Drawing together voices from South Africa, the United States, Israel, Palestine, Northern Ireland, and England, the exhibition examines forgiveness as a healing process, a path out of victimhood and, ultimately, a journey of hope.

Dominican High Schools Preaching Conference

“The Dominican Story is only kept alive by live Dominicans,” words from Dominican scholar, Edward Schillebeeckx that can be heard echoing from Adrian, Michigan, the gathering site for the 18th Annual Dominican High Schools Preaching Conference. Students from 23 high schools, including two from Australia, gathered at Siena Heights University, June 24-29, 2016, to discover and deepen the preacher within.

Nine-Day Novena in Solidarity with our Dominican Family in Iraq

The Iraq Coordinating Committee has prepared a novena to remember our Dominican Family that fled for their lives when Daesch (ISIS) swept across the Nineveh Plain with violence. The novena begins on July 29 and ends on August 6, commemorating the day when our sisters and brothers left for Erbil in the Kurdish area. Brian Pierce, OP, has had the novena translated, and is distributing it to all of the Dominican Nuns’ Convents and the laity around the world. Dominican Sisters International (DSI) is also receiving this timely novena. Read Novena

July 8, 2016, Adrian, Michigan – The new Prioress and General Council of the Adrian Dominican Sisters formally took office on July 2, 2016 during a special Liturgy, the Celebration of Leadership. The Congregation’s new leadership team is composed of Sister Patricia Siemen, OP, Prioress of the Congregation; Sister Frances Nadolny, OP, Administrator and General Councilor; Sister Mary Margaret Pachucki, OP, Vicaress and General Councilor; and Sister Patricia Harvat, OP, and Sister Elise D. García, OP, General Councilors. Elected during the Congregation’s General Chapter in February 2016, they will hold office through June 2022.

SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sister Joeann Daley, OP, will be featured in “The Evolution of the Artistic Imagination” at Sinsinawa Art Gallery, Sinsinawa, Aug. 4–Sept. 28. An opening reception will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, beginning with an artist talk.
