This past weekend twenty three young people from St. Agnes Academic HS, College Point; Good Shepherd Parish in Holbrook, St. Mary’s Parish in East Islip, Notre Dame Parish in New Hyde Park, and St. Joseph’s parish in Babylon came to St. John the Baptist HS retreat Center to begin a weekend of prayer, study, and the forming of community.
It was so wonderful to have so many participants from parish youth groups attend the workshop. Hopefully, this will be a trend and continue in the years ahead.

Dominican Volunteers USA (DVUSA) is hosting it’s Annual Gala on Saturday, April 6th, from 6 – 9 pm at Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois. This is the largest annual fundraiser for DVUSA, which welcomes lay men and women to live in intentional, intergenerational communities with Dominican Sisters and Friars while responding to the injustices of our day by ministering with our sisters and brothers, especially those who are poor and marginalized.

Tucson, AZ – Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Esther Calderon has devoted her entire religious life to the pillars of Dominican Life – prayer, study, service and community. Her dedication was recognized earlier this month when she was honored with the Alive in the Savior Award at a dinner and ceremony by the Jordan Ministry in Tucson, AZ on Sunday, March 3, 2019.

On March 13th, a group of over 40 Catholic sisters and lay people gathered for a brunch to thank the Sisters at Aquinas Literacy Center in honor of National Catholic Sisters Week. After a shared meal, the attendees were presented with the history of St. Dominic by S. JoAnn Fleischaker, O.P. and the significance of St. Thomas Aquinas by S. Joan Mary, O.P. There was also time for sharing stories and memories by the Sisters. The Aquinas Literacy Center has 12 Sisters from sixdifferent religious orders volunteering as literacy tutors and clerical volunteers.
