Iraq Coordinating Committee
“The summer of 2014, and specifically Aug. 6, saw the mass displacement of our Dominican sisters and brothers along with Yazidis, Muslims, and other Christians. We cannot forget them in their suffering nor forget to help them in their time of need.” The Iraq Coordinating Committee (ICC) is offering artwork by Sister Barb Cervenka, OP (Adrian) as a fundraiser to support the sisters in Iraq and their ministries. The committee has also prepared a prayer for use on Aug. 6, and a postcard to be sent to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. International News
The Toronto, Canda, Catholic Register described “Vatican II and the Promise of Renewal” as “the biggest theological conference in Toronto since 1967.” More than 200 scholars participated in the conference, co-sponsored by the University of St. Michael’s College, the Dominican Order, and the Institute for Research of Vatican II. Theologians Carla Mae Streeter, OP (Racine) and Kathleen McManus, OP (Blauvelt) were among those presenting at the conference. In the article, Fr. Bruno Cadore, Master of the Dominican Order, said “the three days of seminars and debate are exciting.” Read article

Sister Marcelline Koch, OP (Springfield) recently had an opportunity to speak to students at Eastern Illinois University about her experience in Iraq. Her visit was featured in an article in the college newspaper. Read article
