On Sunday, June 1, Maryknoll Sister Jean Fallon, MM, was honored for her more than 40 years of peacemaking efforts when she was awarded the Sister Christine Mulready Peacemaker Award from Pax Christi Metro New York at its Peacemaker Awards Reception at St. Joseph’s Greenwich Village Church. Also receiving awards that day were the Carmelite Commission for Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation, and Sandy Hook Promise. Read more

On April 30, the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) and the Tri-State Coalition for Responsible Investment (Tri-Cri) presented Sister Patricia Daly, OP (Caldwell) with the 2014 Joan Bavaria Award at the Ceres conference in Boston. The Joan Bavaria Award “honors unique investor, business, and NGO leaders who are working to transform the capital markets into a system that balances economic prosperity with social and environmental concerns.” Sister Pat has worked in the field of corporate responsibility and socially responsible investing for more than 35 years. In the words of Sister Gene Poore, “Dominican Sisters of Peace are passionate about bringing an end to human trafficking, particularly that of children.” Sister Nadine Buchanan, OP (Peace) embodies that dedication. On Jan. 20, she was honored with an Ohio Liberators Award. The awards are presented in eight categories to recognize the efforts of Ohioans in the fight against human trafficking, with winners determined by popular vote through online polls. Sister Nadine won in the Outstanding Volunteer category. Read more
