Social Protection Floor would meet basic human needs

Fact: 1.4 billion people in our world live on less than U.S. $1.25 a day. Eradicating poverty is the theme of the 50th Session of the Commission for Social Development Feb. 1–10 in New York. In conjunction with the commission, there will be a Civil Society Forum on Jan. 31. Over the past year, the NGO community has been advocating for what is called a “social protection floor,” and this will be our focus during the Civil Society Forum.
