Sponsored by the OP West leadership and hosted at the motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, California, this powerful experience of gratitude and the best of what it is to be family began with a festive lunch followed by panel presentation and conversation and concluding with Evening Prayer.

UN Update: ‘United States Mission to the United Nations Annual Trafficking in Persons Report’

“Each year the United States Mission to the United Nations releases a Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report to re-assess and evaluate the status of human trafficking (both sex trafficking and labor trafficking) worldwide. At this point in time, human trafficking is not only an issue discussed with regularity at the UN, but it is also an issue central to the advocacy of the Catholic Church. Dominican Sisters of Houston: Advent Brunch

houston_9413 When the Dominican Sisters of Houston gather annually for our Advent Prayer and Brunch, it has been our custom to give the Pauline Gannon Service Recognition Award to either, an employee, volunteer or benefactor. This award is the sisters’ way of recognizing friends and partners whose companionship and service deserve special honor. When we gathered on Saturday, December 17, we broke with that tradition. In her opening remarks, Sr. Donna Pollard announced that in this 800 anniversary year of the Order of Preachers, we were gathering to honor every member of the Dominican Family around the globe. We were joined by many of the Dominican Vietamese sisters as well as other members of the Dominican Family in Houston.
