Dominican Sisters of San Rafael – ‘An Invitation to Engage in Contemplative Power’

2contemplationOn Saturday, September 10, something remarkable happened in San Rafael, California. The Dominican Sisters invited Nancy Sylvester, IHM, to share a program on communal contemplation, the transformation of consciousness and contemplative power. Sisters who attended the day represented several other religious congregations:  Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, Sisters of the Holy Family, Sisters of the Good Shepherd, Sisters of Social Service, Daughters of Charity, Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet, Adrian Dominicans, and Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Monroe, Michigan.

Dominican Congress on Human Rights in Salamanca, Spain

200 Dominican friars, sisters, laity, nuns, priest associates and youth, ministering in 50 countries in all corners of the world, gathered in Salamanca, Spain, September 1-5, 2016, to reflect on how our Dominican Family can renew its mission through the promotion and defense of human rights.

Adrian Dominican Sister, Donna Markham, O.P. was chosen by the White House to be part of the Presidential Delegation attending the canonization of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. The ceremony took place on Sunday, September 4, 2016, during a Mass celebrated by Pope Francis at the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square. Read more

Maryknoll Mission Institute – ‘Living God’s Dream’

The Maryknoll Mission Institute is holding two programs, “Living God’s Dream,” in Monrovia, CA and Los Altos, CA. The programs will be from September 25-30, 2016 and October 3-6, 2016, and “will explore how we might re-discover God in the minutes and days of our everyday living.”
