The Dominican Institute for the Arts is a grassroots organization of Dominican sisters, friars, associates and laity with a commitment to furthering the arts as preaching. The Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose welcomed Cardinal Reinhard Marx for a visit Jan. 19. Sister Gloria Marie Jones met Cardinal Marx during her visits to the sisters’ German community in Altenhohenau. Cardinal Marx led a Eucharistic celebration along with Oakland Bishop Michael Barber, Oakland Bishop Emeritus John Cummins, Divine Word Fr. Carl Seewald, and Msgr. Manuel Simas, followed by dinner and a tour of the motherhouse and grounds.
