LCWR The Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) will meet for its annual assembly Aug. 7–11. Mary Hughes, OP (Amityville), past president of LCWR, and Barbara Blesse, OP (Springfield), secretary, are among the Dominicans who will be attending. Please keep all of the sisters in your prayers as LCWR membership discerns its response to the doctrinal assessment report released April 18 by the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. More information, including a “Prayer for LCWR,” is available on the LCWR web site. The Dominican Sisters Conference also recently received a letter of support from the Dominican friars of the Southern and Central provinces, and a letter of support from the Central Province Lay Dominicans. Barry University Fr. Bruno Cadore, master of the international Order of Preachers, based in Rome, Italy, visited Barry University in Miami as part of a recent visit to Dominican communities in the Southern U.S. Province. He celebrated Mass Sunday, July 15 on the main campus. Barry University is sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters. Read article in the Florida Catholic, the newspaper for the Archdiocese of Miami Adrian Dominicans Adrian Dominican Sister Sharon McGuire was featured in a recent story in the Georgia Bulletin, the newspaper for the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Sister Sharon talked about her twin vocations to vowed religious life and nursing. She is a founding faculty member at Siena Heights University, which honored her this year with the creation of the Sister Sharon McGuire Academic Excellence Award (read May 9 article on Adrian Dominican web site). Read Georgia Bulletin article Aquinas Institute The Provincial Council of the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great (Central Province) has appointed Fr. David Caron, OP, as interim president of Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri, effective Aug. 15. Fr. David is a member of the Dominican Province of St. Martin de Porres (Southern Province) and will be the first president of Aquinas Institute who is not a member of the Central Province. The interim appointment extends until June 2013.
