Lumen Christi Award Catholic Extension has announced that Dominican Sister Gabriella Williams of the Diocese of San Bernardino, California, has been named the winner of the 34th annual Lumen Christi ("Light of Christ") Award. Williams plans to use the award grant to develop a technology room within the Communidad de San Jose, a facility for adult and youth education. Read more UN Briefing The 66th Session of the General Assembly formally opened on Sept. 13. The president for this year’s session is Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, from Qatar. On assuming his position, Mr. Al-Nasser said, “The road to success must be founded on the principle of partnership and on a deep sense of justice and responsibility… The 66th Session of the General Assembly is … our opportunity to prove that we … have the courage, tenacity and wisdom to seek creative and visionary solutions. Read more Common Dominican Novitiate The Collaborative Dominican Novitiate (CDN) is a joint effort by the congregations of women religious in the Dominican order to provide members in initial formation with an experience of the larger Dominican family. The purpose of the canonical year in the CDN is to provide a quality experience of Dominican Catherine of Siena Fellowship The Ethics Program of Villanova University seeks applicants for a Catherine of Siena Teaching Fellowship. Responsibilities include a 3/3 load teaching the sophomore/junior level core ethics course, research, plus committee work for the program. A Ph.D. is preferred. The position is for one year, renewable up to three years. Candidates should have either an expertise in Christian ethics, with a competency to teach Western philosophical ethics, or an expertise in Western philosophical ethics and a competency to teach Christian ethics.
