Dominican
Call to Justice: 2007
Dominicans around the
United States are deeply concerned for issues of peace and justice
in this country and around the world. The justice effort of the
Dominican Order is organized through an international commission
and Domincans in the United States participate in that worldwide
network.
The
Dominican Call toJustice document
describes the most significant issues of justice and peace for North
American Dominicans. It is updated annually. Use the links on the
left to learn more about the issues we work on. They include: Global
Warming, HIV/AIDS in Africa, Columbia, the death penalty, disarmament,
the war in Iraq and the conflict in Israel and Palestine. Human
trafficking and the issues of migration, labor and fair trade complete
the list of concerns. You will also find material about Domincian
presence at the United Nations in New York and the UN Human Rights
Commmission in Geneva.
The Call
to Justice document represents the work of justice and
peace promoters in the United States and Canada. Justice
promoters in each congregation and province advocate on
a number of issues in collaboration with lots of other
groups through political, economic and civic processes.
The care
of creation is the context out of which flows all that we do as
Dominican Justice Promoters.
