September 21 2009-- Along a street in Hicksville, NY, neighbors displayed a peace candle poster in their windows as a sign of their prayers for peace. Dominican Sisters of Amityville encouraged them with mailbox flyers. At the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, rang a peace bell and said, "On this International Day of Peace, I have one simple message: We must disarm."READ MORE
Racine Dominican Professes Final Vows
RACINE, WI -- On September 6, Ann Pratt, OP, professed her final vows as a Racine Dominican Sister. “I didn’t think I’d feel much different,” reflected S. Ann, who took initial vows in 2003. “It really is different, though. It changes my role in the universal Church to make this permanent commitment to live my life within a community.” S. Ann made her vows in the context of Sunday liturgy at Siena Center in Racine.
