Master of the Order Calls for Prayers
for People of Pakistan

SABINA, December 3, 2007--- Calling the emergency situation in Pakistan
unacceptable, fr. Carlos Azpiroz Costa, in a joint letter with sr.
Marie Fabiola Valesquez Maya OP, International Coordinator of DSI,
called on Dominicans worldwide to prayer for peace and to advocate
for a return to order. In a letter issued November 25th, the two world
leaders asked Dominicans "to urge your governments to directly contact
General Pervez Musharraf, President of Pakistan, insisting on a return

American met to commemorate
the massacres in Bajo Vera Paz (Rabinal) between1981-1983 and
to mark the anniversary of the assassination of Fr Carlos Morales O.P.
in 1982. The North American promoters brought back with them a message
to the 25,000 participants of the School of the Americas March.

Dominicans Add Their Voices in Call for Terrorism School Closure

BENNING, GA, December 3, 2007---Dominicans from around the United
States, along with their friends and students from several Dominican
schools, helped to swell the crowd of over 25,000 people marching
against the School of the America. According to organizers, the 18th
annual vigil, held November 16-18th, was one of the "largest

Cluster Congregations Receive Vatican Approval
COLUMBUS,
OH-- December 3, 2007 --- The seven congregations of Dominican Sisters
that comprised the Dominican Cluster announced last week that their petition
to form a new congregation was approved by the Congregation for Institutes
of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CICLSAL). The news
release published by the Cluster said, "The prayerful support of
our Dominican Family has helped sustain us throughout this journey. We
thank you and ask for your continued prayer as we move forward in forming

Great Bend Dominicans Elect New Prioress
GREAT
BEND, KS _December 3, 2007---The Dominican Sisters of Great Bend, Kansas
announce the election of Sister Rene Weeks as Prioress during their
Extraordinary Chapter of Election, November 23 - 24, 2007. Her term
will extend until the formation of the new leadership team of the Union
of the Cluster congregations. The election was held to fill the unexpected
vacancy created by the untimely death of Lorena Bolte, OP who died
in July in a car accident.
Dominican Sisters of Hope Adopt Resolution in Support
of Human Rights, Advocate Against Trafficking

corporate stance to advocate against human trafficking and to support
human rights. In a statement released last week, the community committed
itself to collaboration with advocacy groups , support of recovery
programs for victims of trafficking, and the use of their economic
