Dominican Leaders Meet to Explore Frontiers of the
Holy Preaching
LOUISVILLE,
KY --Over 140 Dominican Leadership Conference members and guests
moved closer to the frontiers of the Holy Preaching at the DLC Annual
Meeting held here October 12-16, 2007. The group engaged in a dialogical
process that included explorations of our common future and the wider
international dimensions of Dominican life. The excitement and passion

West Coast Dominicans Meet
New Wave Gathering of Dominicans
Los Gatos, CA, September 16, 2007-- On an Indian Summer’s
afternoon, 20 Dominican women religious from the communities of Tacoma,
Mission San Jose and San Rafael met at Presentation Center in the beautiful
Santa Cruz Mountains of California. The
purpose of the gathering was for these West Coast women newer to
religious life, to pray, converse, preach and share recreation
in order to foster relationship-building in the call to Holy Preaching.

Life Poured Out: the killing of Dominican Pierre Claverie,
the bishop of Oran, and his young Muslim in 1996, was both a symbol and
the epitome of the mayhem that had gripped Algeria for several years.
Claverie was a leading figure in his country’s search for a peaceful
future. In laying down his life for the cause of reconciliation and peace
among religions, he belongs in the company of Archbishop Romero, Martin
Luther King, and other great witnesses of our time.
Author Jean-Jacques Pérennès, a Dominican
priest and economist, lived and worked for ten years with Bishop Claverie
in Algeria. He now serves as general secretary of the Dominican Institute
