UN Pushes Dialogue in Myanmar
UNITED
NATIONS (AP) — The U.S. warned it would push for U.N. sanctions
against Myanmar if it fails to respond to international demands to move
toward democracy. But the country's U.N. ambassador strongly resisted
punitive measures, saying it is not a threat to regional security and
needs "patience" to promote reconciliation. Dominicans at the UN

U.S. Catholic Bishops Issue Letter Of Solidarity To Bishops In Myanmar
WASHINGTON (October 3, 2007)–The United States Conference of Catholic
Bishops (USCCB) sent a letter of support to the Catholic Bishop’s
Conference of Myanmar addressing the recent outbreak of violence that has
overtaken that nation during the past two weeks and offered prayers for

Dominican Releases New Documentary on Hurricane
Katrina Survivors
HOLLYWOOD,
CA -- Not
Broken, a feature-length documentary, illustrates the horrific
life-and-death ordeals and struggles people faced at the onslaught of
Hurricane Katrina. In a new film by St. Martin Province Dominican fr.
Armando Ibanez, OP, the tragedy and courage of New Orleaneans is told.
Legendary singer Kris Kristofferson provides the opening vocals. The
film received a Chris Award, sponsored by the Columbus International
Film &Video
Festival, and will be screened at the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival
in Orlando, FL, October 18-20.
