Professor Shares E-Mails From Assassinated Priest
ROME, JUNE 13, 2007 (Zenit.org ).- "The situation here is worse
than hell," Father Ragheed Ganni wrote to a former professor the
day before he and three deacons were shot after Sunday Mass in Mosul,
Iraq. Father Robert Christian, a theology professor at the Pontifical
University of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Angelicum, in Rome, spoke at the
requiem Mass held in that school on Tuesday. There, Father Ganni had

Department Bureau Calls Attention To Iraqi Plight

MI June 18, 2007-- Two Dominicans recently offered testimony in Washington
urging the State Department to pay better attention to the devastating
situation of refugees leaving Iraq. Maria Riley, OP and Dusty Farnan,
OP spoke at different hearings to plead for basic services, increased
funding, and increased medical and educational services to Iraqi refugees
in their host countries. the

Houston Dominicans Join Call for Disarmament
HOUSTON, TX June 18, 2007--- At their June 3rd Convocation, the Dominican Sisters
of Houston, TX joined a growing call for the US goverment to rethink its nuclar
program and to back away from the militarization of space. Ceil Rogers, OP justice
promoter for the congregation has been working with the members to approve the

Dominican Archbishop Kelly Retires in Louisville
LOUISVILLE,
KY June 18, 2007 -- He struggled with parish school closures, priest
shortages and a massive priest sex-abuse scandal. He battled an addiction
to alcohol and painkillers. And he withstood calls that he resign over
his handling of the abuse crisis. Kelly resigned last year on his 75th
birthday, as required by church law. READ
