Dominican Sisters of Adrian: ‘Suzanne Duquet Welcomed as Associate’

September 10, 2019, Adrian, Michigan — Suzanne Duquet – a student of the Adrian Dominican Sisters at St. Suzanne Elementary School and Bishop Borgess High School in Detroit and at Siena Heights College – recently formalized her long-time connection to the Congregation when she was accepted as an Associate. The Ritual of Acceptance took place September 4, 2019, in St. Catherine Chapel.

In opening the Ritual, Associate Mary Lach, Director of Associate Life, noted Suzanne’s past connections to the Adrian Dominican Sisters. “You will continue to deepen the bonds between you and the Congregation,” she told Suzanne. “May we all deepen our bonds as we journey together.”

Dominican Sister of Caldwell Gerardine Mueller, OP, Honored by SOAR!

At the recent New York Awards Dinner for SOAR! (Supporting our Aging Religious) held at the New York Athletic Club, Sister Gerardine Mueller was presented with the Father Victor Yanitelli, SJ, Award for devoting her life to sacred art, the training and mentoring of students of all ages in the arts, and her remarkable ability to bring out the best in each of the artists she has helped develop. Cardinal Tobin and many of our sisters, associates and friends attended the evening. Fellow awardees included Father Edwin Leahy, OSB, Headmaster at St. Benedict’s Prep (Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Award) and members of the Notre Dame Clubs of the Archdiocese of New York (Dorothy Day Award).

Dominican Sister of Caldwell Gina Scaringella, OP, Makes First Profession of Vows

On August 4th, Sister Regina (Gina) Scaringella, having completed the Collaborative Dominican Novitiate, made First Profession as a Dominican Sister of Caldwell. Profession of vows took place within the context of a Eucharistic Liturgy. Present at Mass were Gina’s Dad, Sal, her brothers and members of the extended Scaringella family as well as friends and colleagues. Also in attendance were members of the Dominican family with sisters from Sinsinawa, Peace, Amityville, Blauvelt, and Hope as well as Friar Carl Joseph. Many of those present commented on the joy that could be felt. It was made palpable by the singing that filled the chapel. Especially meaningful was the “Dominican Magnificat” sung with harmony and in full voice. As a new member of the Order of Preachers, Gina’s breaking open the Word challenged all to respond to the call which each one has been given. Standing with Sister Patrice, both holding the Constitutions of the congregation, Gina professed her vows. All responded to her witness with sustained applause. May there be many more days of joy and celebration in Gina’s life as a Dominican Sister.

Dominican Sisters of Tacoma: ‘Dominicans Participate in Seattle Archdiocesan Fund Campaign’

The Archdiocese of Seattle is in the midst of a Capital Campaign to raise funds for the priests’ medical and pension plan. The sisters in the Archdiocese are included in this Campaign and will receive funds for the ongoing retirement and care needs of our sisters. Although speaking at parish Masses, attending meetings is time intensive, we are happy to participate knowing that all of our work is benefiting our communities. The Dominican Sisters of Tacoma and Adrian are active participants of the other founding communities in the Archdiocese of Seattle.
