This bi-annual gathering is an opportunity for promoter input and discussion on the signs of the times and the subsequent updating of the US Dominican Call to Justice as well as serving as a support to the promoters in their justice work. A Los Angeles Magazine article, “The Sister and the Lifers,” shares the story of Dominican Sister Mary Sean Hodges’ ministry of helping men sentenced to life terms reenter the world. One part of Sister Mary Sean’s ministry is a preparation program called “Insight.” The program “focuses on helping inmates recognize the reasons for their crimes and express personal change.” Read article
“In celebrating National Catholic Sisters Week, March 8-14, the Dominican Sisters Grand Rapids welcomed 142 volunteers from our Dominican Sisters friends community to serve and support some of the most vulnerable in West Michigan. Volunteers helped to ensure hungry kids get fed, new babies are swaddled and warm, and above all, that Dominican core values, like service and collaboration are lived and shared.” Read article
February 24, 2017, Miami Shores, Florida – Two Adrian Dominican Sisters – Peg Albert, OP, PhD, and Nancy Murray, OP – were among 10 to be honored as Distinguished Alumni of Barry University. The February 9 award luncheon, held at the Coral Gables Country Club, launched Barry’s Reunion Weekend.
