Dominican Sister of Blauvelt Mary Doris, O.P. Helps Homeless, Single Mothers at Siena House
For 26 years Siena House in the Bronx, New York, has been serving the needs of homeless, single mothers and children. Sr. Mary Doris, O.P., a Blauvelt Dominican, is Director of Siena House—a shelter for women who are pregnant or have a child under the age of three. Sr. Mary and several other Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt founded the shelter in 1990. Siena House is sponsored by the Tolentine Zeiser Community Life Center.
