The role communications plays in connecting the passion of Dominican preachers is more critical today than ever before. OPCOMNET is a vital link among Dominicans in the US and to the international Dominican Family. Be a part of making that link stronger and more meaningful.

The Annual Dominican Communicators Network (OPCOMNET) conference will be held at Weber Center, Adrian, Michigan, January 24-27, 2008.

Features of this year's meeting include a conversation with Scott Steinkerchner, OP (St. Albert) international promoter of the Internet for the Dominican Order, Robert Delaney, reporter for the Michigan Catholic and an extensive visit and conversation with our sisters from Iraqi: Luma Kuhdher, OP and Rihab Mousa, OP and others. North American Co-Promoters of Justice and Peace Dusty Farnan, OP (Adrian) and Chuck Dahm, OP (St. Albert) will be on hand for a strategy session. Ray Casey, photographer for the Dominican Sisters of Adrian will offer a workshop on photography. and more!

The theme this year, Reaching Beyond our own Borders, takes us beyond the daily concerns of an effective communications office to the wider professional boundaries we share, how do we deliver stories with impact that will move and stimulate readers? How can we deliver a message that both compels others to action and offers insight into Dominican life?

Sharpen your skills, renew your friendships, network with other professionals, all with a Dominican flavor.

What to bring:
Curiosity: What questions do you have for our Iraqi Sisters? What are some story ideas for getting media coverage in your area? Humility: come open to critque of your writing - so it can create more impact. Creative thinking: we will explore emerging technologies that could help you be more productive and effective. and by the way... bring a digital camera for a photo workshop.

How to plan: Best airport: Detriot, MI (DTW) is about 1.5 hours away from the Dominican Sisters of Adrian. Ground Transporation is provided by them for a fee of $20/one way. Please plan on arriving in time for supper and registration and staying until noon on Sunday.
