Executive Director, Dominican Association of Secondary Schools
The purpose of the DASS organization is to nurture/sustain the legacy and tradition of Dominican secondary education in the United States.
Executive Director — Job Description
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the Dominican Association of Secondary Schools according to the strategic direction set by the Executive Board.
Leadership
- Provide leadership in developing programs, organizational and financial plans in conjunction with the Executive Board and staff; carry out plans and policies authorized by the Executive Board
- Assure that the organization has a long-range vision and strategic plan which guide its mission and makes timely, consistent progress
- Explore alternative governance structures that will ensure the Dominican educational mission into the future; provide resources to sponsors and member schools studying governance structures; and strengthen collaboration within the Dominican family
- Act as a spokesperson for DASS in conjunction with the Chair of the Board
- Provide initiatives which enhance relationships and share learning among the various constituents of the member schools;
- Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of DASS
- Maintain all official records and documents
- Represent DASS at all activities which enhance the organization
Board and Staff Relationships
- Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, supervision and release of all office personnel, both paid and volunteer
- Ensure that clear job descriptions are on hand, that regular performance evaluations are held, and that sound human resource practices are in place
- Provide support to the Board by preparing meeting agendas and materials
- Plan and coordinate the regular meetings of the Executive Board and the annual Conference
- Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special gatherings and projects
Communication
See that the Board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it.
- Publicize the activities of DASS, its Preaching mission, programs and goals in a variety of ways
- Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with all participating members of DASS
- Represent the mission, philosophy and programs of DASS to the wider Dominican family, the NCEA and other Archdiocesan/diocesan offices, as well as the general public
- Meet regularly and maintain ongoing communication with the DASS Executive Board and DASS staff
- Conduct official correspondence of DASS with the Chair and jointly, with designated officers, execute legal documents
- Demonstrate technological competency in a variety of on-line communication skills
Financial Management
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices
- Work with the staff and Executive Board in preparing a budget; ensure that the organization operates within budget guidelines
- Oversee the investments and management of the Association’s funds
Position begins July 2014. Living location and work area to be mutually determined. Salary negotiable.
