Jean Ramacciotti honored with Drum Major for Service award

Jean Ramacciotti, a Lay Dominican and RCIA director at St. Thomas Aquinas parish in Palo Alto, California, was among those honored on Martin Luther King Day with the Obama administration’s 2012 Drum Major for Service awards, presented “in recognition and appreciation of your commitment to strengthening our nation and for making a difference through volunteer service, addressing the most pressing needs in your community and in our country.”

Jean was nominated by the Islamic Networks Group for her work on their Interfaith Speakers Bureau. She has served on the Islamic Network Group’s Interfaith Speakers Bureau (IFSP) for many years, representing the Christian tradition.

Jean is a member of the St. Albert the Great Chapter of the Dominican Laity in Oakland, California. She has a degree in theology and philosophy from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley, California. Jean is commissioned by Fr. Thomas Keating as a presenter of the method of Centering Prayer, and has led contemplative prayer workshops in California for the past 20 years.
