Tacoma Dominicans
Congregation elects leadership team at general chapter

Meeting as General Chapter of Discernment and Elections, the Sisters of St. Dominic of Tacoma recently re-elected Sister Sharon Casey and elected Sisters Ann Marie Lustig, Anna Murphy and Maureen O’Brien to its Leadership Team. Sisters Sharon and Ann Marie will be full time, and Sisters Anna and Maureen, part time. The Chapter expressed deep gratitude to Sisters Patricia Beattie and Mary Patricia Murphy for their years of congregational leadership.

The Chapter renewed its commitment to our Dominican Life and Mission especially our ongoing participation in OPWest, Dominican Sisters Conference, and Dominican Sisters International. We acknowledged our relationships with the wider Dominican family, especially the global connection.

The Chapter participants reaffirmed the Chapter resolutions to meet basic human needs and to end all forms of violence. Specifically, they pledged to continue work to end discrimination (by race, religion, or sexual orientation), to end human trafficking, and to work for immigration reform. They will continue to collaborate with groups working on these issues to inform a wide public, to effect legislative support, and to assist the victims of discrimination, trafficking, and unjust actions. The congregation-sponsored ministry of Catherine Place in Tacoma and other community groups work to promote peace, justice and non-violence.
