Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology Fr. Richard Schenk to head Catholic university in Germany
Michael Sweeney, OP, president of the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology (DSPT), has announced the appointment of Richard Schenk, OP, as president of Katholische Universitaet Eichstaett-Ingolstadt, the only Catholic university in Germany. Sister Alison Munro, OP, director of the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference AIDS Office in South Africa, spoke on universal access to treatment for AIDS patients during the recent United Nations General Assembly High Level Meeting on AIDS June 8–10. A story on the panel discussion was featured on the U.S. Catholic web site (“Panelists say faith-based groups lead the way in addressing AIDS crisis’). More than 60 pilgrims spent the week of June 13-18 visiting such sites as Galilee, Bethlehem, Nazareth and Jerusalem; taking a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee; living through the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus; and learning about the political and religious aspects of life at the time of Jesus – all without leaving Weber Retreat and Conference Center on the Motherhouse campus of the Dominican Sisters of Adrian.
