San Antonio group celebrates Feast of St. Dominic

The Lay Dominican Fraternity of St. Rose of Lima in San Antonio, Texas, came together to celebrate the Feast of St. Dominic Aug. 8. The Holy Mass took place in the Chapel of San Juan Macias. The concelebrants for the liturgy were Fr. Luis Aguilar, OP, religious assistant, and Fr. Andy Kolzow, OP, Prior of the San Juan Macias Dominican Priory.

Mr. Gerard Elizondo, OP of Corpus Christi,Texas, made his perpetual promise as a Lay Dominican during the liturgy. Mr. Gordon Pfeil of San Antonio,Texas, was also admitted as a candidate. The Dominican Laity ceremonies were presided by Ms. Cindy Martinez, OP, fraternity president, and Mrs. Diane Blouse, OP, fraternity vice president. There was a reception and luncheon after the liturgy.

The Fraternity, which was started in the Archdiocese of San Antonio in 1990 by Ms. Patricia Trevino, OP, has members from Corpus Christi, Pearsall, and San Antonio, Texas. The Fraternity also celebrated the perpetual promises of Mrs. Delancey Pestello, OP, and Mrs. Lydia Kelly Perez, OP in March.
