New Orleans Hit by Rare Snow Storm

NEW ORLEANS, LA December 11, 2008 -- Often visitors to the Big Easy ask, "does it ever snow here?"  So with a slight smirk we reply, "Oh, about once every 20 years."  This morning must have been the 20th year because we got snow - great, big, flakes of it.  And it snowed for about two hours, when alas, the snow turned to rain.

However, what ever collected on top of cars and lawns is still there.  The Big Easy responded appropriately to snow by cancelling schools, closing bridges over the Mississippi River, and there were some power outages.  Of course, there were more fender benders that usual.
