Dominican Ashram Opens in Adrian

ADRIAN, MI, December 26, 2006 --The Dominican Ashram, formerly housed by the Dominicans in Kenosha, WI, has reopened at the Motherhouse of the Adrian Dominicans in Michigan. Don Goergen, OP (St. Albert) reports that the house of prayer is open and ready to recieve guests in the new year.

The property in Kenosha has been sold. The community expressed its gratitude to the Kenosha Dominican Sisters for the generosity that made the ashram there possible. "We are also grateful to the Adrian Dominican Sisters for making the continuation of the Ashram possible by offering us a beautiful facility and setting on their property in Adrian", said Don.

When the Ashram began in Kenosha seven years ago, Advent of 1999, there were four members in the community: Jim Barnett, Donald Goergen, Rosemary Henley (now deceased) and Giles Klapperich. Over the years members left and new ones came. Present members are Mary Lois Carey (Sinsinawa), Donald Goergen (St. Albert), Pat Horan (Blauvelt), and Art Kirwin (St. Martin).
