DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION:
December 29th
It's time to plan your trip, get your forms
in and look forward to a very informative, fun, and engaging
time with other Dominican Communicators.
This year, by popular request, we return
to the United Nations in New York to meet and introduce our
selves to Margaret Mayce, OP (Amityville) the new Dominican
NGO Representative to the UN. Margaret is planning an exciting time
for us that will help us appreciate the Dominican presence
at the United Nations and to understand the work of peace
building there.
We will also be doing the kinds of hands-on practical skill
building you appreciate and love to learn. Our emphasis this
year will be on using the tools of the trade: video conferencing,
photo editing and news releases to communicate about the
United Nations.
We know that leaders in
congregations are looking for ways to take advantage of video
conferencing technologies and so we will be offering some options around this
topic. Of course, improving the photos that come your way that need
a little improvement, cropping, tweaking and cleaning is always a
challenge. We will get tips on making dull photos more useful. For
those who want to sharpen their
writing skills, news writing tips is always a welcome help.
Most of all, engaging in conversation and getting
to compare notes with other Dominican commuicators is worth the
trip!
Soon we will post the schedule, but for now, please
note that the late afternoon and evening Friday is free for you
to roam around New York City, see a show or tour the United Nations.
Please bring with you the following:
- 6 pounds of creativity, which easily fit underneath the seat
in front of you on the plane. (security is not an issue).
- 12 ounces of curiosity, can't have enough of that.
- Large size packages of brain cells
- 8,000 units of laughter
- any experience and knowledge of video conferencing you want to
share
- All the PhotoShop tips you can carry (tips tend to be small)
- 4 Quarts of commitment (easy for you)
That's it! See you real soon.
